A Personal and Home Care Aide provides assistance to elderly or disabled adults in carrying out daily living activities. They may attend their clients’ homes or residential facilities.
A Personal and Home Care Aide must maintain clients confidentiality at all times, be respecting the clients values, customs, preferences and spiritual beliefs as well as those of the clients families/carers.
Their duties may include:
- general cleaning and tidying
- laundry
- assisting with bathing and groomingpreparing meals
- caring for pets (feeding, grooming, exercising)
- providing progress reports to family or organisations as applicable
- acting in such a way that the rights of clients are protected
- maintaining accurate and concise records
- carry out activities as specified in client health and well being plan
